Deploying Tablets That Are Ready for Work
A Kirklees-based company needed Android tablets prepared for use around the business. The requirement was not simply to hand out devices and hope users set them up correctly. The tablets needed to be enrolled, controlled and consistent from the start.
Hamblett Consultancy configured the devices through Microsoft 365 mobile device management so each tablet could be used for the role it was bought for, with the right applications installed and unnecessary access kept out of the way.
The Brief: Controlled Android Tablets for a Business Environment
The client wanted tablets deployed across the company for operational use. That meant the devices had to be simple for staff to use, secure enough for business data, and supportable once they were in day-to-day service.
The project covered full MDM setup, Android enrolment, app deployment and policy control. Rather than treating each tablet as a standalone consumer device, the setup brought them under company management using Microsoft Intune and the wider Microsoft 365 management stack.
Microsoft 365 MDM and Intune Configuration
The tablets were enrolled into the managed environment so policies could be applied centrally. This gives the business a cleaner way to control device behaviour, keep settings consistent and reduce manual rework when devices are issued, replaced or reset.
The enrolment process included work app installation, including Microsoft Authenticator, Microsoft Intune and Intune Company Portal, with the devices moving through the managed work profile/app deployment stage as expected.
Only the Apps Staff Need
A key part of the deployment was keeping the tablets focused. The devices were configured so users see the applications they need for their work, rather than a general-purpose tablet full of unnecessary software, personal distractions or inconsistent settings.
This matters in a working environment. A tablet that is locked down properly is easier for staff to use, easier for management to support and less likely to drift away from its intended purpose over time.
Security and Supportability Built In
Mobile device management gives the business better control over access and security. Policies can be used to enforce expected configuration, support account protection and make it easier to deal with a tablet if it is lost, damaged or needs to be reassigned.
The aim was practical security, not needless complexity. Staff still get a usable device, but the company keeps control over the business side of the tablet and the data it can access.
A Consistent Rollout Across the Company
When devices are being deployed around a company, consistency is the difference between a clean rollout and a support headache. With the MDM foundation in place, each tablet can be prepared to the same standard, with predictable apps, settings and management controls.
That makes future support simpler. If a device needs checking, replacing or re-enrolling, the process is based on a controlled configuration rather than one-off manual setup.
Outcome
The project gave the client a managed Android tablet estate ready for business use across the company. The tablets were enrolled into Microsoft 365 MDM, configured for the required work apps and locked down so staff could use them for their intended role.
For the client, the result is a cleaner tablet rollout with stronger control, better consistency and less avoidable support friction. For staff, the devices are straightforward: open the tablet, use the work apps provided and get on with the job.
